Top 6 Ways to Stay Organized While Painting
Every artist has experienced that ever-growing sense of frustration that develops because of a cluttered space. A messy, unorganized art studio or desk-space can also affect your creative flow. So, let’s fix this! Here are some inexpensive organisation tips that every artist needs :
- Use clear or masking tape:
Remember the time you were working on a detailed art piece when the paper shifted and your entire artwork got ruined? Well, clear tape fixes just that. You can also use a clipboard to keep your drawing or craft work in place. However, that may create a hindrance while working.
Masking tape can also come in handy when you want to mask specific areas in your artwork. - Buy a container for your art supplies
This helps to separate your supplies and makes it easier to find them quickly.
- Cover your drawing space
Often, the surface or table gets dirty after some time, with pencil shavings, paint, or rubber pieces. To reduce your cleaning time, cover it up with a disposable material before starting, and throw it away after you are done.
- Prepare a quick paintbrush cleaner
Just pour warm water in a bowl, and dip your dirty paintbrush in it for some time. Voila, it’s as good as new!
- Hang your wet paintings
When you use watercolours, your paintings require some time to dry. Hanging them prevents the cluttering of your drawing space. In an art studio, you can hang them from the ceiling with the help of rope lines and board clips.
- Throw away empty supplies or recycle them
If you clean your desk, you’ll find old supplies that had been empty for at least three years. So, throw them away periodically to make space for more, or recycle them. For example, you can turn an empty spray-can into a pretty vase.
Take your time to clean up your drawing space or your art studio, and once it’s over, put some effort into maintaining it. Happy painting!
